At the end of 2019, Rail Europe Solutions acquired a large storage facility at its production site in Mariembourg. This facility will enable the group to better meet the needs of its customers.

The technical storage facility, which includes a 1,800m² warehouse and a 10,000m² outdoor logistics area, is fully OHSAS 18001 certified, and will enable Rail Europe Solutions to implement a comprehensive QSE (Quality, Safety and Environment) strategy for managing its products.

This substantial work now makes it possible to store all of the group’s rail equipment menu references on its under-rail timber production site. These optimum conditions allow:

1. Flow optimization:

This centralised and secure warehouse has enabled Rail Europe Solutions to reduce transport and order processing times, thereby enabling the group to better meet the needs of its customers.

2. A FIFO approach

 This new facility is managed on a “First In First Out” basis, with our millions of parts rigorously organised and classified.

With the future installation of hand-held scanners, bar codes and stock management software for all of our 580 referenced products (sleeper screws, rail nuts, bearing plates, fishplates, nuts and bolts, etc.), we will be able to carry out an instant stock count and monitor order processing in real time.

3. Better synergies

What’s more, this new facility has strengthened the synergies between the group’s companies on a number of levels:

  • Technical: centralised products for each order;
  • Human: exchanges, sharing and cooperation involving various technical and professional skills;
  • Administrative: grouping orders together to reduce processing and dispatch times.

Finally, this new facility has created three new positions: a stock manager and two warehouse staff.
